What is Fertility Awareness?

During menstrual cycles the body goes through changes and often times might need to be checked. Natural family planning and periodic abstinence is called and known as fertility awareness. It is important to gather the information together and learn how to ovulate. This can help with timing sexual intercourse and learn the right time of having a chance at becoming pregnant or either when pregnancy should be avoided.

At least five days out of the month a woman can get pregnant. Before the menstrual cycle starts ovulation happens anywhere from 12-16 days. Most women keep up to date by documenting the cycles and when they started plus when it ended.

Women must know their body and how it changes plus cycles before doing fertility awareness. Women who use awareness can still get pregnant. Studies show that 25 women out of 100 become pregnant without planning it. Women who are trying to get pregnant often use this method to time sex.
