Here are some of the dangers associated with using an IUD.
- Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of the fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus that may cause infertility, chronic disorder or sterility. The chances of getting PID are generally more during the initial days of insertion after which it gradually decreases.
- Most of the females go for expulsion within a month while those who already have kids may opt for it in a year. The risk of getting pregnant increases if IUD is removed without the knowledge of the woman.
- In some cases IUD may also perforate the wall of the uterus and may go in the abdomen. In order to get rid of such problem one may have to go for a surgery.
- A woman should immediately remove the IUD in case she becomes pregnant. The dangers involved with this can include an abortion or miscarriage. It may also affect the fetus. The chances of ectopic pregnancy also increase with the use of IUD. Make sure that you treat it otherwise it may even cause fatal.
